Lost In Gigha

I was lost in Gigha
Lost and in love
I was lost in Gigha
You gave me an almighty shove

I was lost in Gigha
Lost and in love
I was lost in Gigha
Looking at the stars above

I was lost in Gigha
My emotions needed changing
I was lost in Gigha
My mind needed re-arranging

I look at you
A different woman
I was lost in Gigha
In love with what i do

I was lost in Gigha
Lost and in love

Don’t treat me with neglect
Don’t treat me with disrespect
Don’t treat me with respect
Don’t treat me at all

I’m moving on
To Mull

I was lost in Gigha
Lost and in love

  1. This is one of my favourite poems. I wrote this in November 2008 whislt waiting for a ferry and practiced reading out at the ferry terminal at Tinalyoin (forgive the spelling)in the rain in a bus stop for 2 hours. It is based on the song "Lost in France" by Bonny Tyler and is inspired by circumstances to do with my marraige split a couple of years earlier. Whenever I read it again I also think of people I met on Gigha (one person in particular, who really liked my poetry and wouldn't give me my manuscripts back for 2 hours - she really gave me confidence in my belief that I am a good poet, and I am very grateful to her for this)
